Safety of our Troops

Many people believe that we should not be in Iraq. Only time will tell if the US is doing good or if it's improper. The one thing we all agree on is that the number of our troops being killed is excessive. Let's look at a few facts to help us determine the best course of action.

For the last 22 months we have had about 160,000 troops in Iraq. During that time there have been 2,112 of our troops killed (a number we all agree is far too large). It works out to a firearms death rate of 60 per 100,000.

In Washington D.C. (you remember, the place with the tightest gun control laws in the nation) during that same period there were 80.6 firearms deaths per 100,000. That means our troops are 25% SAFER on partol in Iraq than if they were walking the streets of Washington D.C.

Does that imply the US should get out of Washington D.C.?!
